July Favorites: Encouragement to Soak in As You Soak Up The Sun
Fresh berries from roadside fruit stands. Long drives to beach getaways. Summer evenings tossing a ball around. Summer is in full swing by mid-July and we’re soaking up every minute of the warm weather, memory-making goodness. Here are a few of our favorite things as of late, to help you get into the summer spirit too!
A book: A Relaxing and Profound Read
Cold Tangerines is a collection of stories that celebrate the extraordinary moments hidden in our everyday lives. It is about God, and about life, and about the thousands of daily ways in which an awareness of God changes and infuses everything. It’s a sweet and simple summer read, written by one of our favorite authors (the incredible Shauna Niequist) that will help you savor each and every moment of summer – and beyond. You can even download a free sample chapter over on Shauna’s website for a taste.
An activity: Get Outside with Friends and Family
Whether or not you’re able to get away this summer for a vacation, we love that so many cities all over the country host evening events that give each day the potential for fun with family and friends. One of the best ways to enjoy the weather without spending a bundle is to check out if there’s a spot near you where you can indulge in an outdoor movie showing. Popcorn, ice cream, summer evenings, and a show? YES PLEASE. If you’re local to Bellingham, check out this summer’s Outdoor Cinema schedule here.
A laugh: 20 Things We Should Say More Often
We all need a reminder now and then of the things we should and shouldn’t say to one another. Check out this hilariously sweet video for a short re-cap of some of the phrases we should incorporate into our relationships a little more often.
A Treat Yo Self Moment: The Cutest Summer Water Bottle
Want to stay hydrated? From experience we can tell you you’ll be better at it when you can think of your bottle as an accessory. 😉
A smile: Some Good News
It’s important to stay up to date with what’s going on in the world. But that doesn’t just mean the pain and chaos. For a dose of good news and some heartwarming stories, check out the good news network and get ready for real stories of service, helpfulness, and selfless that are occurring in creative and interesting ways around the world.
We hope these recommendations make your summer even sweeter. Cheers to colliding with Jesus in every season, and in every little thing. Happy July!
