Stuck

None of us are immune to getting stuck.

I’ve been stuck in bad dating relationships, dresses in dressing rooms, and family-of-origin roles I did not ask for and never should have been given. I bet you’ve been stuck too.

I just spent a weekend colliding with Jesus alongside 30 of the coolest chicks. You’d love them;) This team of women committed to a year’s worth of service to help YOU collide with Jesus! Some of them are college students, some are grandmas, some are single, some are married, some are new to faith, some have walked with Jesus for decades, some are outgoing and some are shy.

But they all LOVE Jesus and want to help other women know Him.

How cool are they?

And even with their big hearts and amazing talents and love for God, they still get stuck too. We took time to swap redemption stories at our retreat, and it’s amazing to see the ways women get stuck, unmoving in a place they don’t want to be.

Sometimes it can feel like our life is on repeat, playing out the same old arguments in our marriage. Or we look at our poor self-care and think, “I have seen this film before.” We can survey our life every birthday and feel bummed that we still haven’t gotten off that couch and done that 5K. Or we still haven’t spoken out loud that big dream we have. And we still haven’t taken a risk and started that thing we feel like God told us to start.

So here we are.

Stuck.

The word stuck means “fixed or held in a particular position and unable to move or be moved.”

What if I told you it is possible to get unstuck?

What if you knew now that freedom is possible from your addiction?

What if you knew you could win this battle?

What if you knew you could live in a body you loved, see a breakthrough in the mindset that is holding you back, or see transformation in that relationship that plagues you?

I think it’s interesting that the God of the UNIVERSE could have watched us struggle and left us alone in the struggle. But instead, we watch Him leave Heaven, the perfect place and come down to the imperfect place and enter our struggs.

We watch Jesus show up to the religious people who think they have God all figured out. And when they don’t even realize that their own view of God is part of why they’re stuck, Jesus shows them.

We watch Jesus run into the woman at the well, who everyone else in town is watching absolutely fumble. And surely they don’t have much hope that she is going to turn her life around. But right when everyone else has written her life off, Jesus does an absolute turnaround in her life and then uses her to stir a revival in her town.

We watch Jesus show up to the synagogue teaching one day. And out of all the people He could give His attention to, He invites up a woman who is bent over by a spirit. She is so darn stuck that her body is bent over. Some of you know this feeling all too well. And she shows the most brave faith.

She walks up, trusting Jesus is safe, Jesus is good, and Jesus can do something about her life. And He does. He unsticks her right there in front of everyone.

I bet that invited everyone present to walk bravely up to Jesus and trust that He could do something about their struggles, too.

So friend, I just want to hop into your day and invite you to do the same.

Walk bravely up to Jesus.

Even with a watching crowd who might see your issues.

Even if you’ve been stuck there for years.

Even if you’ve tried before.

Even if you’re embarrassed that you’re still struggling with the same ol’ thing.

Jesus will help unstick you.

But you have to bravely show up to let Him.
