A Free Insight Journal: To Help You Pause, Reflect and Ask Good Questions

So often we journey through a season and get so busy or overwhelmed or tired that we forget to stop. We forget to pause and take stock of all that we have been through, all that we have learned, all that we want to leave behind, and all that we want to take with us.

In the last four months time, I sent my oldest kid off to college, lost the woman who led me to the Lord, my mother died unexpectedly, our family had Covid, my daughter had two MRIs and I have had one due to painful injuries, and I am trying to hold up a nonprofit in a pandemic. I don’t share this list as a pity party. And trust me I know people have it way worse than I do. But the other day I felt soooooo tired. And I had this moment where I realized how much I have gone through in just a few months. So I actually had to say out loud to myself, “You have been through a lot in a short amount of time. Give yourself a break. Pause and recognize what you just walked through.”

It was actually this moment where God reminded me of the season I just walked through that made me realize I had been through all these things in only 4 months. It was like He said “Of course you’re tired. Of course, you’re emotional. Of course…” God has such a sweet way of being compassionate when we slow down and meet Him.

I had been working so hard to not let all these things topple me that I forgot what I’ve even journeyed through! So I realized I need to be a friend to myself like Jesus was to me in this moment but I also need to make space to slow down and take everything I can from what I’ve just experienced before I so easily move into the next chapter without skipping a beat. I need to ask myself some hard questions, I need to feel the feels. I need to look for God’s invitations. I need to allow this hard time to shape in me Jesus-like character. Or I can just move on. Isn’t that the temptation for all of us? Push through. Move from one chapter to the next. Experience an ending and look for a start?

Proverbs 4:5 charges us to pick up wisdom and insight. Don’t just move on. It says, “Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.”

You and I walk through tough seasons. Let us at least grab some wisdom from all this hardship and take it with us into future chapters! If you, like me, have been walking a rough road, I invite you to stop the clock, take some pause, and fight for insight. I wrote this Insight Journal that is chalked full of incredible questions that will help you leave this tough chapter behind with wisdom to move forward into the next one. And guess what? It’s free! I hope God’s Spirit walks alongside you as you bravely seek new chapters with His wisdom preparing you for all that is to come with great hope.
