Beatitudes

The Beatitudes are found in both the Old and New Testament. The word blessed comes from the the Latin word beatitudo. Read the blessings and soak them in!

  • Blessed are all who take refuge in him. Psalm 2:12
  • Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble. Psalm 41:1
  • Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple. Psalm 65:4
  • Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. Psalm 84:4
  • Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. Psalm 84:5
  • Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord. Psalm 89:15
  • Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right. Psalm 106:3
  • Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands. Psalm 112:1
  • Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord. Psalm 119:1
  • Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart— Psalm 119:2
  • Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. Psalm 128:1
  • Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God. Psalm 146:5
  • Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding… Proverbs 3:13
  • “Now then, my children, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways. Proverbs 8:32
  • Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. Proverbs 8:34
  • The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them. Proverbs 20:7
  • Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him! Isaiah 30:18
  • “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3
  • Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4
  • Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5
  • Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6
  • Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Matthew 5:7
  • Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Matthew 5:8
  • Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Matthew 5:9
  • Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:10
  • “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Matthew 5:11
  • But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. Matthew 13:16
  • Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. Matthew 16:17
  • In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! Luke 1:42
  • Looking at his disciples, he said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Luke 6:20

  • Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:29
  • Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Romans 4:7
  • Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. Revelation 1:3
  • Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.” Revelation 14:13
  • Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.” Revelation 19:9
  • Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14
