Because You Say So, I Will
Being intentional with our faith means listening to Jesus’ commands and putting them into practice.
Because you say… In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven, Matthew 5:16... I will shine the light of Jesus.
Because you say… All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one, Matthew 5:37… I will speak the truth.
Because you say… But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matthew 5:44… I will love others even when I am hurting.
Because you say… But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well, Matthew 6:33… I will seek God’s will in all I do.
Because you say… Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own, Matthew 6:34… I will trust God.
Because you say… Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock, Matthew 7:24… I will seek wisdom.
Because you say… And whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many, Matthew 20:27-28… I will serve.
Because you say… Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself, Matthew 22:37-38… I will love God and love others.
Because you say… So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him Matthew 24:44… I will live every moment knowing I might see Jesus.
Because you say… Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours, Mark 11:24… I will pray expectantly.
Because you say… Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions, Luke 12:15… I will treasure the things that truly matter.
Because you say… Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly, John 7:24… I will look beyond the exterior and into the hearts of others.
Because you say… A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another, John 13:34… I will love as Jesus loves.
Because you say… Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves John 14:11… I will believe in Jesus and trust what I have seen of Him.
Because you say… If you love me, keep my commands, John 14:15… I will show I love God by doing what He says.
Because you say… I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing, John 15:5… I will stay connected to Jesus and draw on his strength to do all things.
