No Greater Love

No Greater Love

There is no greater love than the One who removes distance. Scripture reminds us of this kind of great love we have in Christ.

God BROUGHT us NEAR when we were FAR AWAY

… you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Ephesians 2:13

God brought us TOWARD Him instead of AWAY from Him.

For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that he might bring us to God.  1 Peter 3:18

God CLEARED AWAY the damage instead of allowing it to create distance.

This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God. 1 John 4: 10

God PUT AWAY  our sin instead of PUTTING IT IN His records of wrongs.

He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Hebrews 9:26

God made us FRIENDS when we were ENEMIES.

For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Romans 5: 10

God REDEEMED us instead of ABANDONED us.

Knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your fathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. 1 Peter 1:18-19

God CANCELLED OUR DEBT instead of CHARGING US A PENALTY.

Having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.  Colossians 2:13-14

Our brokenness has been LAID UPON HIM instead of UPON US.

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. but he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53: 3-6
